Ask HN: Is having Salesforce on your resume a red flag?

Lately I have seen positions for Salesforce developers that range from writing AMPscript for emails to working on their email builder Web application.

I threw the idea around in a group I casually socialize with. The consensus was that putting Salesforce work on your resume would be looked down upon by other developers and would ruin your chances of getting hired as a developer in the future.

What do folks here think about all of this? How true is it?

These types of questions come up over and over again.

I worked for a very large porn company before in their IT department.

Maybe it affected my ability to get a job down the line, but I probably wouldn't have wanted to work at any company that would have used that as an excuse to not hire me. Kind of hard to say if it is a red flag or not...

I did a bunch of Salesforce integration work at a previous company. I leave it off my resume because the work was terrible and I'd never want to do it again. I would never admit to any knowledge of Salesforce because of some of the awful crap I had to deal with ("Apex" anyone?)

From what I can tell, the tech you'ved worked on tends not to be seen as a disqualifying factor for most job applications, so long as you also have experience in whatever tech stack the job you're applying for uses. And if it did, you have to ask yourself whether you'd want to work with such judgement assholes.

Nah, as people have said, the only real reason you'd want to leave it out is if you want to avoid being contacted about roles using a tech stack you don't want to use again.
