That UI is slick. An IMDB clone makes sense since IMDB is centralized and scoped basically to mainstream and indie movies and TV for the most part.

Gentle but very much wanted requests: can it get User Accounts, User Reviews and Movie Lists? IMO, these are some of the greatest features of IMDB and would be some primary use cases for an IMDB clone.

I could imagine people wanting to self-host IMDB type websites, to curate collections of indie videos (be they on YouTube or PeerTube or Odysee or Rumble of ServiceFlavorOfTheMonth or CustomPlatform).

The video format is here to stay, but fragmented/decentralized hosting makes discovery inefficient.

A stable, secure, slick and easy to install, open-source IMDB clone (with basic admin features like control over account creation) where people can share metadata about the wide world of video (perhaps limited to niches of interest to the instance) seems aligned with why one might want to have a clone of IMDB.

I'll leave forums out of the requests list. IMDB forums were great, but I guess IMDB forums moved to MovieChat.org. I don't think the IMDB clone needs a forum. Any old school style forum can supplement an IMDB clone; no need to reinvent the wheel.

But we need a "good enough" IMDB clone. Way to go. Thanks for this!

IMDB are a renown litigious company. That domain name will not last long after they catch word of this being a thing.

You only have to speak to the owner of OMDB (Open Movie Database) to understand how litigious IMDB are.

They're also owned by Amazon, which means they have unlimited resources to be litigious too.
Exactly. You do not want to poke the bear...

Why do you think there isn't a good alternative to IMDB?

My advice would be to take down this domain and repo immediately and go build something that wouldn't attract the attention of a large litigious multinational company.

Are you talking about omdbapi.com when saying OMDB? How would you compare that to the situation of TMDB (themoviedb.org)?
10/10 on UI asthetics.
This runs better and lot of more aesthetically pleasing than imdb.com.
ok, so you decided to copy all annoying UI specifics what Imdb has. What are waste of time.

Arghhh
