Job Bait and Switch

I was offered a job (funny enough through hacker news) only to be ghosted by the person hiring me. It's a soul crushing experience, and now I'm back in square one. I'm seeing this happen more on my social feeds, even a couple FANG companies have been receding offers. How common is this, and what can I do about it? (not really sure if HN is meant for this kind of conversations but I am interested in what this crowd would think)

Think of the job as being de-offered. You haven't actually lost a job, only an opportunity; and if the company has problems, it might have been an opportunity to be laid off soon, not to find satisfactory employment.

Ghosting candidates is unpleasant, but a confrontational discussion is likely to be even more unpleasant.
