AI may be to blame for our failure to make contact with alien civilisations (theconversation.com)

This doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. No matter what the ASI does with us, it would want to keep growing / spreading. So it would be the opposite imho; AI civilisations would grow into space a lot faster than we would. No need for oxygen etc.
