“[I]nduces cellular senescence”, to those not steeped in the hip lingo, means “makes cells older”.
I think this is somewhat incorrect. 'Senescence' is a particular state in cells, where they stopped cell division due to dysfunction, but are not broken enough to induce apoptosis - programmed cell death. Accumulating senescent cells in turn is associated with age related disease.
And here implicitly, "make several organs age faster" so... very bad thing.
But also note: "Our study showed that an IKD [intermittent ketogenic diet] can prevent the accumulation of senescent cells induced by sustained KD [ketogenic diet] ... suggesting that an IKD may be more beneficial than a long-term continuous KD"
This lines up well with the idea that few carb were eaten during winters in northern climates. I wonder if this is actually an evolutionary gene.

Personally when lossing weight I've mainly done 2-3 month stints of keto followed by calorie counting. Its worked well when ive stuck to it.
