Releasing code is kinda like putting up a YouTube video. Unless you already have an audience, most likely nobody is going to find or notice your code. Even if your idea is totally revolutionary you still need to announce and promote it in order to get people's attention and get them to discover your product.
After you release projects for a while, you'll get over that and you'll start to grow weary of putting code out and having nobody notice. You'll wish for some feedback and users on your work. You might find yourself casually mentioning it on forums and IRC or wherever you hang out. Eventually if you keep going you'll be pimping your stuff all the time and all over the place without the slightest thought!
