This is sad news. I spoke with him about one of the startups he founded/invested in (clect) a few years back. He was an extremely smart guy, very nice, and a wonderful human.
Regardless of what you think of his documentaries, he was an entertaining and genuine guy. RIP.

When that is what the NYT headline mentions it is hardly regardless for us the wider audience who have never met him.
I love the crowd that goes, oh no don’t critique or hint at what this person was famous for. When their fame is the whole reason we’re discussing their death.
