I suppose it's now impossible to delete a photo and have it reappear in the future.

Wow - this article says Apple "describ[ed] the nature of the bug to 9to5Mac"—in other words, they're copying another site's reporting—but they don't link to the other site's report. Even the median blogspam site at least links to the original.
