I disagree. Most of content on conspiracy forums and sites regarding 911 tell 1) that the attack was a US inside job 2) no plane really hit pentagon neither WTC, 3)if a foreign country is involved then it must be Israel.
It is also what was said back then.
As far as I remember,it was journalists and analysts who pointed Saudi Arabia.
I think the main issue is that people still think in terms of nation states while rolling their eyes once you even mention terms such as "deep state" despite the many books that have been written about it that provide insights into the way these people operate. People also think that there must be some cliche villain pulling all the strings when it is instead much more likely that different factions with different goals either collaborate or sabotage each other and that they're all well connected and funded and have deep ties to many intelligence agencies, private military contractors and undercover operatives who work in various organisations (media, cabinets, military, banking, pharma, etc).
A trail can lead to factions of various nation state's military industrial complexes without that being a contradiction in itself.
That's definitely not the world I'd chose to live in but closing my eyes and hoping that it's all just make believe by some conspiracy nutjobs seems rather... ignorant.
Smells like some powerful people, maybe in the government, were probably supporting the terrorists, considering there were interventions when the embassy staff was about to be fired for having jihadist material. Does this mean a complicit government? Even in the US congress you still have plenty of current members who were complicit during an attempted overthrow of the US government (however disorganized, clumsy and futile it was).
And as the article says, the Saudi leadership has gone through some changes in the last 23 years..
I'm not really into conspiracy theory's and stuff....but I did remember the who PATRIOT act passing.....
I'm 95% sure this was already known at a certain level. Middle eastern money was known to have help funded this....hell its not even rumored it was joked about how middle easter oil money funded Osama bin laden.
Even if what we think is true is false, I doubt any conspiracy theory is actually correct. Its just such a big event, with so many people arguing different takes on it.
In some ways its weird looking back at 9/11 and remembering just how much it changed so many aspects of our life.

Still, the Saudi embassy still helps criminals (rapists) flee home, giving them passports with fake identities (can you call them fake passports if a government issued them?) https://www.propublica.org/article/saudi-fugitives-accused-o...
Is this "revelation" a politically timed article?
