Important topic. The gut-brain connection could also be important to consider for scientists and engineers. Anecdotal data point: I have personally notices greater ability to focus and, in general, perform analytical tasks since first, fasting and then, post-fast, focusing on what I have learned so far on feeding the microbiome.
Still much to learn and discover in this field. I am finding it to be fascinating.

We often think of exercising and eating well as vectors to achieve and maintain health. Yet, I have now come to believe, we are all pretty ignorant about the importance of thinking of feeding our microbiome as what could be, perhaps, the most important determinant of health for a person without major conditions.
