I'm surprised. After such a short deliberation period, I expected a not-guilty verdict, especially considering that I read somewhere that one of the jurors gets their news from Truth Social.

I do wonder what sentencing will look like. Jail time is probably unlikely, but fines and probation... probably?

Whether or not this has any significant effect on the election remains to be seen. Any appeals process likely won't conclude until well afterward.

"Former President Donald Trump has been found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records to influence the outcome of the 2016 election.

New York Judge Juan Merchan set sentencing for July 11 — just four days before the start of the Republican National Convention. Trump faces a maximum sentence of up to 4 years in prison, but as a first-time, white-collar offender, no jail time is necessary, and he could receive probation instead."

He needs to go to jail, its where he belongs, not out here with the rest of us.

> he could receive probation instead

Probation of what exactly?

Bedtime curfew of 11pm and no Milk and Cookies before bed?

July 11 punishment announcement

They can give him up to 4 years for each felony. 4 * 34 is 136 years in jail
