Ask HN: Most reliable WiFi configuration at home?

1 points by outcoldman ↗ HN
I sucked in into getting one of the WiFi Mesh 7 (Deco BE95). Does it live to my expectations? Not really.

I have a Mac connected via 10Gbps network to Synology, where I can get 700-1000MB/s speeds. I have another PC connected via 10Gbps cable to one of the Wi-Fi Mesh nodes - I am getting a max of 200-300MB/s. Still good, but not even close to the advertised 33Gbps.

Another issues on the network:

- HP Printer always keeps loosing connection to Wi-Fi after sleeping. I tried Wi-Fi dongle - seems like the issue persists, so not sure if that is issue with DHCP or something else.

- Weirdly, anything that tries to play PS5 Remote Play on local network via Wi-Fi (Steam Deck, iPad, iPhone) - has weird lags once in a while. But playing over Cellular/Internet - everything works smoothly.

Questions are:

- What is the best Wi-Fi router right now, which one would you recommend for reliability and speed?

- What is the best Home Router for managing DHCP/DNS/etc on your home network would you recommend? I use Synology RT6600ax, just because I configured everything (including Wi-Fi) on it, and just wanted to upgrade my Wi-Fi network to WiFi7, so connected Deco BE95 just as an access point.
