But then, we wouldn't need email servers at all! The humanity!
How do you figure that? You can set a MX record on a domain, but it still has to go somewhere.
I can host my own email. We could all go point to point. Isn't that obvious?
And when you host your own email, it will be on an email server, so we would still need email servers. Also, you'd suffer with delivery because gmail is aggressive about blocking people even if they have a domain.
Maybe not. Using my imagination, I can envision a mail client that also performs the server function for a small set of addresses (my addresses).

It's important to think about the possibilities when changes are suggested, and not just default to wet-blanket responses.

For those who were just as mystified as I was when I clicked on the link:

The main goal of EU.org is to provide free subdomain registration to users or non-profit organizations who cannot afford the fees demanded by some NICs.

EU.org is not endorsed to any European Union initiative, but it's also not a TLD, only a subdomain.

How is this different from.. Geocities?

Ok, but there are (at least) 4 people in my country with the same name as me, so either it's going to be some shitty name.name4938 deal or someone is going to be disappointed.
I've taken to buying a .xyz that (mostly) matches the mobile phone number for each of my family.

That costs me about $10 for 5 years.. I then point it to whatever service they're like me to host for them.

The offer is being slow on the uptake atm, but I am in the middle of migrating from google photos to immich and that has garnered some interest
