As someone who's not an expert in linux or computers (I'm just a user, I don't really understand the internals of linux), does this mean or not that more RAM will be used?
If you have 8 GBs of RAM (or, for some reason, less) and have to compile Node/Rust/Go projects, it's a no-Go. But then Debian doesn't have the AUR, so you're probably good. :p
(On Arch, I had to undo what Debian is now doing on a laptop I have since updating some AUR packages would fail from lack of RAM. Now, they succeed and only take an hour!)

You can vote as much as you like, moderators (dictators, actually) will simply override community votes and make the frontpage look the way they want it too look.
Irrelevant. The community decided which thread was more interesting, and it wasn't the one with fewer upvotes. You can downvote if you don't agree. That's what downvotes are for.
At least put a link to the other thread, or put a mark on the post that shows that its ranking was manipulated against the community's will.
I'm not here to see a list of dang's favorite posts. This is unacceptable.

I'm sure it's optional, or at least hope it is, cause it might not be good in all contexts

This means that is should work a lot faster for typical workloads and that data in `/tmp` will automatically be cleared on reboot.
In theory it shouldn't affect anyone much, unless you have swapping disabled (which by default you won't).

Have there been developments since then?

I don't see any way to downvote a submission.
