Ask HN: What Marketing Channels for Niche Tech Integration SaaS?

2 points by authorfly ↗ HN
Ignoring Opencore/OSS, what marketing channels/approaches are there to bring people who have your problem to tech SaaS which integrates?

For example, I see a few posts about good OCR - https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=40612190 - and have OCR experience myself (to put it lightly). Although I had one decently high traction startup, I launched an API for "Good OCR" in 2023 and struggled to get any traction or find any places - the google searches are in the 10s per month so that avenue is kind of low too. But I believe it is a problem and think SaaS (like the one mentioned on that thread) are doing increasing business now.

What would be a good approach?

Many times people run into this problem (that columns are not correctly parsed in PDFs) when using something like langchain on a high value problem - I considered a plugin for that, but how could I really find the right people at the point in their development when they need good OCR?

In the past I sold recommender engines - this was easy, we could point to higher sales and target 10 person companies who were growing without good recommendations and send them samples to marketing/product/CTO types on LinkedIn.

But OCR how do you know the point in time to approach? Unlike marriage or going to university, there are few signals.

This is just an example, I would more than love to hear any stories you have.
