"Feast of Sacrifice" was an interesting descriptor to someone who had no idea what was coming next. At first I thought it was a pagan holiday.

Out of curiosity, what’s the sacrifice?

It's a lamb, after the story of Abraham's sacrifice of his son being replaced by a lamb.
Had to Wikipedia it: "In Islamic tradition, the udhiyah honours the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son Ishmael as an act of obedience to God."
How is this in any way relevant on Hacker News?

Are we gonna be wishing each other Merry Christmas as well?

Come on now

I learned something. It's what I enjoy about HN.
And a special shout out to all ex-Muslims out there, especially those still undercover and feeling compelled to pretend they are still living an Islamic life. Celebrations like this can be especially tough to get through under these circumstances.
Eid Mubarak to everyone! The first day of Eid was yesterday (Sunday) in many/most (?) countries.
