Is this because the in car satnav and media devices are awful?

I had a 2007 Honda Accord (UK) and the SD card with updated maps was £113 and I didn't spend enough time on pirating it to make it work as I just put a £1 phone holder in with GOOG maps on.

Cars with USB/3.5mm/BT input for media are the norm and all that's needed.

If it wasn't for the fact that all the unnecessary computer gubbins are controlled from the attention-grabbing screen in the dash I'd pull the wires out of the thing.

Too much driver distraction. Satnav and stereo. Anything else is just for the salesman.

It's a bloody vehicle, not a seat in your man cave, FFS.

I really hope the other 2/3 are with me when I say that having either Apple or Google integrated with my vehicle is a deal-breaker.
I have exactly zero interest in using those things, but them existing in a car isn't a deal-breaker for me. I just won't use it.

But those often seem to come with cars that replace physical controls with touch-screen ones. That's a dealbreaker for me.

This is definitely the same vibe as "i won't ever buy a smart tv" instead of "i just won't volunteer my wifi password to samsung"
