Use for AI API services: low bandwidth internet connections

Been stuck in a place where the output of ping looks like this:

With such an internet connection, the web is pretty much unusable. Even HN times out 90% of the time. But one thing that does work well is openAI's GPT-4 API. I can ask a question and get a mostly-correct answer within 30 seconds.

Other services that work quite well: Whatsapp, mosh.

Thanks to the devs of those services for testing and making their service work for people with very bad internet.
