U.S. record labels sue AI music generators, alleging copyright infringement (nbcnews.com)

I read somewhere (on HN?) that a team automatically generated every possible melody and copyrighted them all to provide a free license to anyone--to prevent this exact type of lawsuit. Does anyone have the link?
