Ask HN: What comes next for Patreon and Gumroad?

They aren't that different anymore in terms of features: one-time payments, subscriptions, discovery/ directory, community (posts, comments, lives) etc.

And that's where other similar platforms are moving as well - to being all-in-one platforms for best reach.

Is there anywhere left to go? What is the current movement in this niche? What do you think comes next for community subscription pages?

The next thing is an open source version of these.

We need to race the cost of a Patreon or a Gumroad to 0. It shouldn't cost $$$ for creators to get started with these features.
