Show HN: I brought the best Pebble watch feature to iOS and Apple Watch (texttime.app)

Hi HN,

I wanted to share something exciting that I've been working on. Remember the classic word clock feature from Pebble watches? It was my default on my pebble steel (Still working like a charm to this day!). I've always loved how unique and visually appealing it was, so I decided to bring that experience to iOS and Apple Watch.

Introducing Custom Word Clock - TextTime: a fully customizable word clock widget for iOS. You can personalize it to fit your style and preferences. It started as a widget for the home screen, and I'm thrilled to announce that it's now available as a lock screen widget and a complication on the Apple Watch.

Here's what you can expect:

Customization: Choose unique greetings, fonts, colors, and backgrounds to create a word clock that suits your taste.

Widgets: Add the word clock to your iPhone's home screen and lock screen for quick access. Customization in the app applies directly to the widget.

Apple Watch Complication: Get the word clock experience right on your wrist with our new complication.

Numbers are so last year—why not add words to your watch? I'm really proud of how it turned out and would love to hear your thoughts and feedback!

> Personalize your time-telling experience with Texttime's customizable features and unique word displays.

Customization is the big deal here, but “Unlock Customization” is a $2.99 in-app purchase. Nothing personal, but the free functionality (if any) of iOS apps compared to the good stuff should be clearly called out. Rarely are the two visible at the same time, either in the App Store or on websites.

I’m a “don’t surprise me” kind of person.

Hello,

Thank you so much for the feedback. TextTime includes several free customizations right out of the box, such as choosing between 12/24-hour time formats, dark/light mode support, and font size for complications, widgets, and app experience.

I agree the app should explain better the difference between these two tiers. I've recently updated the app to clarify our in-app purchase offerings. The "Unlock Customization" feature is now rebranded as "Super Customization". I now explain what additional customization options and unique word phasing it adds, ensuring transparency about what's included for free and what's available as a premium feature. Updates to the website are "coming soon", as this will require more detailed changes.

I am committed to providing a clear and enjoyable customization experience for all users, and your input helped make TextTime even better! If you have any more suggestions or questions, please feel free to reach out.
