Lovely, but the RE18 and Euroregio trains are wonderful, comfortable and cheap. And will drop you smack down in the city center of Aachen, Liège and Maastricht.
For anyone lacking European geography knowledge, the airports involved are very close - Maastricht Aachen airport to Liege Airport is a 40 minute (49km, 30mile) drive.
Note that this is literally a publicity stunt. The flights offered are 30-40km (19-24mi) straight-line distance, and they are intentionally calling it an "experience". It's one person, no luggage, and only available for two months.
Maastricht has an once-per-hour train service to Liege which takes 30 minutes, and a twice-per-hour train service to Aachen which takes 50 minutes. The same can be done by car in 25 minutes and 45 minutes. Take into account travel to/from the airport, and it takes longer than just going by car or train.
I totally agree. But for the full picture, transport in a 15 km radius is included. I guess this is interesting for high paid jobs traveling frequently between these cities.
Seems like a cool tech demo. It would be more interesting if it were a more exotic form of electric aircraft (e.g. drone like), but I'd still try it if the price were right. Does anyone have the price? I wasn't keen on installing the .apk directly from their site.
The price for a single trip will be €120,00. The price for a return trip will be €160,00. This is part of the total cost price based on the EASA cost-sharing principle."
