Can you link the trend search that you found useless? I'm not seeing any changes, but I only use it a few times per year.

Not that I'd be too surprised. Google Search and Image Search have become shockingly bad for many of my queries.

I’m confused by the therabreath story and how it relates to google trends being bad? I see data that matches all my expectations for searches of that mouthwash.

What are you missing? What do you want more of?

Most days trends shows zero searches for therabreath. The most it ever shows is 100 searches in a day. The data is spikey.

Search for "land cruiser forum" vs "land cruiser community" -- zero data

In the old days, trends would show you data for almost any query.. it was based off the number of people searching for those terms.

I find it hard to believe that not a single person has searched for land cruiser forum or land cruiser community in the past 30 days.

Almost anything i search for that isn't something wildly popular or current has no data.... pick any non popular term and what do you see?

Edit: I'm seeing data now... refreshed and put therabreath for past 5 years and now there is data. Just a few minutes ago there were spikes of 100 searches, 75 searches, about 15 times over 5 years. Very strange.

You should learn how to use the tool before calling it worthless. I didn't thought I would defend google today. The 100 is not the number of searches, 100 means the peak of popularity.
