It is funny because I was just watching interview with a right wing think tank, "American Compass", and they were very distinctly anti-tech, advocating to limit tech companies.
So which is it, are Republicans Pro-Tech or Anti-Tech, members of the party advocate both directions. So which way will they actually lean if voted in.
Yeah, but why would a tech oligarch support someone that is advocating limiting tech? Or is it just splitting the difference, oligarchs (in US) typically support both parties to cover their bases.

Regulatory capture. The last thing they want is a new generation of hungry young entrepreneurs disrupting their businesses and displacing them from positions of power.
The key to maintaining power is to work closely with politicians to make sure that the regulations increase the protective moat around your business.

Limiting tech applies to the small players who don't have political power. As long as they have a seat at the table when regulations are passed, they will benefit from any regulation. This is why zucc, altman, andreessen and other oligarchs are vocally for increased regulation (ironically andreessen is calling out regulatory capture for AI while at the same time wants 'clear regulation to eliminate bad actors exploiting the technology for nefarious purposes' when it comes to crypto). Because they will have the right lobbyists ready to whisper the proper regulations to government officials making sure the small guy doesn't have a chance to penetrate or thrive in the market.
They aren't modern tech titans because they're actually willing to let nice-sounding professed morals in get between them and the wealth/power they crave.
Betting that Biden might win? About like betting on a horse with a broken leg.
The courts have made it quite clear that back-in-power President Trump will not have to worry about any pesky Constitutions nor laws limiting what he can do. And America's rich & powerful are quite aware of how Mr. Putin dealt with the Russian oligarchs who failed to demonstrate steadfast loyalty to him.
The promise of a permanent poorly-educated underclass that provides cheap labor, plus no pesky environmental or financial regulations. Pretty much oligarch heaven.
