Content keeps exploding but Attention does not grow. Therefore those with cash and resources (corporates/platforms/politicians etc) are trapped into spending more and more on Attention capturing/stealing Content.
This changes traditional demand/supply equations. Content demand is not driven purely from people or readers or consumers who have finite attention, but from platforms and corporations that are trapped in empire defense or market capture games with different end goals than a reader or a writer. So its useful to separate out the sources of demand for the content to not become too dependent or tied to one source.
Also Platforms might show the content creator they got 1 view from 1 person. But they dont show that 1 person then goes off and consumes 50 other things and the attention the content receives is being diluted. Writers aren't paying attention to the dilution factor. And Platforms aren't advertising it cause they want writers to believe they have much more impact than they actually do so the spice keeps flowing.
