I do it with bash and ImageMagick. Just takes a couple of lines of bash. That's been around for a few decades.

A mate of mine made a bit of cash on the side with a tool with to compress .ppt files so they would fit on a floppy disk back in the day. All it did was convert all the images to .jpg automatically but some people loved it.
