Even if they were right, they commit a huge fallacy. They think that a surge would automatically lead to significant results on the battlefield. But what if it doesn't? What if it's a repeat of the Summer of 2023? Then you embolden Russia, and you get the opposite effect of what you aim for.
Self imposing restrictions and telegraphing them to the enemy is a recipe for losing, because now the enemy knows what it can and can't do.
No, the west needs to leave the possibility of escalation open. Or what do you suggest? That we tell Russia "no matter what you do, we won't escalate and so the consequences for you won't be too bad". That's not rational.
It's like you're playing chess, and part of your strategy is telling your opponent "if you go there I'll take your queen" so your opponent knows what to do.
Are they trying to be cartoon villains? Because that's what a cliched villain with no actual personality does. Do stuff with children's cancer [anything].
But yes, just because people can get weirdly used to a war, particularly the news, doesn't mean that it's not happening or bad or intense.
The war is evil and stupid and we all know who is to blame.
However, missiles are not raining down "daily" on Kyiv, and certainly not on Lviv (which has seen relatively few missile strikes in fact).
Or anywhere else, except places very close to the front.
Are they trying to be cartoon villains?
Believe it or not they imagine themselves to be worldly statesmen, and are doing what they are doing as means of finally achieving Augenhöhe (eye-to-eye respect) from their Western counterparts, in fact. "They get to bomb hospitals by mistake or otherwise in the course of their military adventures, so why can't we?" is their basic line of reasoning.
'Ceremonial' as in there seem to be arbitrary unwritten agreements. Not that it is not bloody with war crimes.
And people in those places have internet so I very much did tell them. I guess you mean walking the street doing it, and no, I would not do that. That would be rather masochistic.
I got this theory that the bronze age collapse was due to some tribe abandoning some sort of ceremonial warfare, which spread.
The war on Gaza would be a good example of a war with no "ceremonies".
With Trump's remarks about Taiwan it seems the US is backing off it's idea of being a peacekeeper. If it's military is only for defence it could be shrunk massively.
Donald does not speak for all of America, nor is he the president
He says whatever he thinks will make his ratings go up. So the people and media just need to frame what he sees in the way we want to shape his opinion

in reality it is the largest war in Europe since WW2
