I've been a GameStop Pro member for a long time because (1) it can easily pay for itself and (2) I like GameInformer. I'm not going to say it is great journalism but video games are a great visual subject for a glossy magazine the same way fashion is.

This year I've been wondering if I want to continue as a Pro, mainly because I am thinking of disinvesting in Xbox in preference to Steam and the PC. (A trend that was reversed a bit when I was spending a lot of time in the "cat room" at the other house with the Xbox and before I got the microwave link working... Which is good enough to stream most games except for Hi-Fi Rush) The end of Game Informer will likely settle it for me.

Sucks to see it end like this. I like having physical media of all sorts so I'm happy I have the final issues. Gonna miss the cover art and features.
I've been listening to the GI crew's podcast for a long time. After the last big round of layoffs, I started listening to MinnMax, which was started by a group of the people who got laid off. This and so many other outlets getting shut down really shows that the surest way to stay afloat is to be independent. Pretty soon, it's going to be the only way to get games media, ironically, going back to the very start of the medium.
Really disappointing. Couldn't they have used some of the meme stock cash and funded it for another 33 years?
