Yeah, successful advanced geothermal would be a game changer for combatting climate change.
If we can transfer even a fraction of the workers, engineers, technologies and capital from the oil and gas sector it will give an enormous boost to the green transition. But most importantly is the political power that will come along with this shift: even if the workers and the capital of the oil and gas sector doesn’t immediately switch over to geothermal, they could at least see a future for themselves in that field, and which makes it much more likely that they’ll lend political support to green policies.
