So which is better - producing a mathematically correct ray tracing of an object, or producing what appears to be a mathematically correct ray tracing? Have we entered the age of AI approximations?
What's the context, acceptable visual realism for gaming | movies, etc, OR hyper accurate physical simulation for science | forensic reconstruction.

'better' is generally subjective and relative to a context and metric.
