Ask HN: What is a good blogging experience?

I am working on a UI and Markdown editor+rendered for my website users to be able to post rich content.

I am wondering, what makes for a good long form blogging/writing experience?

I am guessing most used things are the classic formatting like strong/italic/underlined text, headings, images, links, lists, tables. Which any MD editor supports.

Is there something else that one should consider to make life of someone who writes longer content easier?

I support pasting/dragging images with auto upload and will be adding drafts, so user will not lose work in case submission goes wrong or web browser crashes.

Anything else one should be considering?... or is is mostly about the website UX and overall website design to make writing more pleasurable, rather than the editor and its capabilities?
