Best payment method for contractors 2024?

I have someone who works with for me asking to be paid via Airtm rather than PayPal or normal bank transfer.

They are a developer in Japan. I have been unable to find much regarding paying contractors beyond PayPal, what are the current best practices?

I’m slightly worried of changes in Tax code that might come back to haunt me at a later date.
