Ask HN: Can anyone recommend me an open source software to calculate footfall?

Hi I am organising an open event for public to celebrate a festival, in which more than 3000 are expected to come. I need to count how many people are coming in and outgoing from the event. I can have a camera attached at the entrance with a top view. Software/library can use ai or image processing, anything to keep track of how many have entered the event and how many have exited over a period of time. The data can help me to be more efficient in my future events.

Thanks in advance

Hire people to stand at the entrance with a hand-counter (one for entry, one for exit). Have them jot down the count every half hour. Cheap, easy, foolproof.
According that for certain reasons, and also volunteers are to much engaged
Can't you use those simple people counters? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/People_counter
That should do, initially I was thinking that since I have a good quality camera and a system, there will be some open source imaging system which will help but this should also do. Problem is time is less and I am not sure that I will be able to procure a people counter. Here nobody uses it.
