Hard disagree. I liked the crow movies for the story - who doesn't like a deserved-revenge plot... I didn't even know who the lead role was, but that's not uncommon for me, I rarely care.

The crow tanked because it was crap. It didn't have the creativity of the original, and was just "generic Hollywood reboot". I'm not sure the lack of an Asian male lead had anything to do with it.

I think TFA is right about the death of Brandon Lee having a massive impact on the reach of the original movie.

But the movie stood on its own, it was enjoyable and met the zeitgeist of the time. And I don't think anyone considered Brandon Lee "an Asian lead".

As you say, the reboot is just irrelevant and apparently a mediocre movie, and that's why it tanked.

I suppose we must grant this author credit for out-of-the-box thinking.

Having done so, we should now put his idea back in the box, seal the box, and ship it to that government warehouse from "Raiders of the Lost Ark", where its merits can be most suitably appreciated.

Someone needs a nap. That's a hell of a leap from Barak Obama's memoire to a critique of a movie made well before the author's birth.

+1 on spacecowboy's comment.
