Ask HN: My Sound Works?

My debian chromebook has not once detected its internal output device in the four months since I replaced the vendor OS.

I just ran Winamp over Wine to reminisce at the compactness of the UI - and sound played.

Does anyone know why that works?

OSS, ALSA, Pulseaudio, pipewire you've got a lot of layers you could be getting sound at

maybe the desktop environment doesnt support the audio driver but wine does
