How can I make the whole web look like Hacker News?

I wish I could strip all websites of their css and just have it be links, text, buttons and images. While I can disable css using code in devtools, often it just breaks the site functionality. Is there a solution to my problem?

Step one would be mandatory IQ testing as a condition for internet access.

Or do you literally mean look as in just styling, rather than content?

With the way many “modern” web apps are made, it’s not so practical anymore to disable that stuff. It will break a lot sites.
Check out GRC.com. Steve Gibson has been maintaining the website as simple as possible (and I love it!). But before you go around clipping the branches of whatever websites you thinking of, consider whether you _should_ or all that fluff/extra tech in them is actually useful/necessary.
https://1mb.club has a lot of performance-focused websites, which generally implies not too much. If you use Chrome, there's also reading mode (accessible on right-clicking), which I don't use very often but which just gets you down to links and text. (No images, though.)

https://marginalia.nu also has 'indie' sites which are pretty good with that, but for the big ones...good luck.
