Ask HN: Did you know GitHub flags email aliases? I didn't. Until now. A warning

Hey HN.

I’ve been a long time GitHub user, and a ProtonMail user - and my GitHub account got flagged as a spam account due to using an email alias via ProtonMail.

I use aliases for EVERYTHING so I don’t get mail spam from companies.

I use GitHub for hosting all my repos (I make lots of projects) and I use it with a lot of third party applications as the OAuth provider.

I massively regret this, as now that my account has been flagged, I can’t use any of my third party applications. I can’t even use GitHub Copilot that I pay for!

So warning to all GitHub users, and ProtonMail users.
