I have had different managerial roles. From project management to project owner. Now I manage a small team and I am bored out of my mind. They to all the fun and I have to spend all my willpower not meddling.

I get the sense that your team is awesome, everything's going perfectly, and your job ain't much more than clicking the "All's Well" button thrice a day.

What does your manager (if it's safe to ask) think of the situation?

Being a dev and being a manager are two entirely different things that use different skillsets and generally appeal to different types of personalities. I think it's rare for a single person to love and/or excel at both roles.
