Bill Number: ABX2-2

Author: Assembly Member Lackey

Status: Introduced for the First Time

A new bill proposes a one-year suspension of the motor vehicle fuel tax, forcing businesses to pass every penny of savings directly to consumers. Any company that doesn't comply would face penalties for violating unfair competition laws. The bill also requires fuel sellers to show on receipts how much tax would have been charged. To cover the gap, money from the General Fund will be shifted to the Transportation Tax Fund. If passed, this bill would take effect immediately as an emergency measure.
