To be fair, looking at your handle, all of your submissions are for your own content. I don’t know you or your motives, but I can see how other community members can draw those conclusions. This can be frustrating, but perhaps if others find your content interesting and engaging they’ll also post it here.
I’ve noticed an uptick of accounts posting exclusively their own content, which tends to be low quality. I’m not suggesting your content falls under this category, but we can respect the battle HN moderators fight to keep HN what it is.
I could not care less how it “looks”. I never promoted any of my work, regardless of its field, quality or scale—my OCD tells me that good work needs no promotion. But some people started to tell me that this approach might not be very healthy, especially in modern days with the amount of trash being generated every millisecond. So I started to _share_ it with other humans.
You can change your attitude here and play the game of trying to lose whatever karma you have. They won't let you remove posts, so they can have toxic ones as well. I find a sort of balance in being a vitriolic jerk on here.
