Ask HN: Cockroach Labs Sales Tactics

First of all, Cockroach Labs probably makes some fantastic software. I've never used it, but I was considering to use it for a research project. Long story short, this research would involve a production deployment, so I went through the process of filling out the form. I was mostly just trying to get an idea of their self-hosted pricing.

When they emailed me a few days later, not with a pricing quote, but asking questions about the application, the data, environments, servers, queries-per-second, read/write balance ... these are probably good things to think about, but are frankly, none of their business. I smelled shenanigans so I just ghosted them.

They resent the email nearly every week. Like clockwork, and I just archived it. Well ... today they blasted every email they could find associated to that email address. This includes $day_job email addresses, etc. I really feel like they crossed a line here, and feels really desperate.

I'm glad I didn't do business with them, and I'm not going to. But does anyone have experience with dealing with these kinds of sales tactics? Should I just tell them to go away, or wait until someone stops by my house?
