Almost all of the discussion over on Reddit is regarding the morality of the situation, but I thought this was even more interesting from a technological and societal perspective. An early real-world story (if it's true, at least) where someone claims that clear audio recordings of them speaking were faked with AI by a friend, and is believed.

This is the first time I’ve seen that play out in a real life scenario. I doubt it will be the last.

I doubt it was the main reason that it was believed. Maybe they were just that lenient ?
