Ask HN: Is There a Name for This Diet Strategy?

3 points by idontwantthis ↗ HN
I’ve been losing .5kg per week for 9 weeks (with a 2 week break for illness) using a strategy inspired by a Hackernews comment I can’t find now.

The only rule of the diet is “Don’t weigh more than your target weight for this week”. Then I lower my target .5kg each week. It’s so much more consistent than counting calories, because that is very difficult to do accurately if you aren’t measuring every single ingredient you consume. Furthermore, I think it is teaching me a lot about my body and relationship to food because I’m developing an intuition for how much longterm weight vs short term weight a food adds. It’s also been easy to get back on target after over consuming for a day or two.

I just want to know, is there a name for this strategy or is this something novel?

Sounds similar to this:

but maybe not quite the same.

Same idea thanks! I have some more details I could flesh out and was slightly thinking of trying to write a book, but that post is right. Maybe I should just make a website with a forum. It would be interesting to hear how it goes for anyone else who tries.
