for me, since I got a smartwatch, it's been a game changer. I use my phone way less now because I can check notifications, calls, track my fitness, etc. I can't believe we didn’t have this before
Yeah in Iran we had something like a hose and it was everywhere. It was so good. Still we make fun of westerners cause they have poopy butts. Unfortunately now i have a poopy butt also :/

Bidets are becoming more common in the US, so laugh while you can. We seem to be shedding the unsavory cultural connections the US made with them after WW2.
I can't really come up with anything so game-changing. I have to exclude things that came around before I was old enough to be aware of things because I have no way to compare life without them.
I suppose the closest thing I can come up with are ATMs. When they came around, it made a tremendous difference in my life. Being about to do basic banking when the banks were closed was incredible.
If I'd answered this question a decade ago, I would have said the internet, but (especially the web) has been getting increasingly problematic for me, and I have something akin to "buyer's remorse". The cost/benefit ratio has turned unfavorable. At this point, I don't really think of it as a positive game-changer on the whole. Instead, I put energy into decreasing my dependence on it and increasing the separation between it and my real life needs.
For anxiety / stress, you have to keep taking it for awhile because your amygdala is enlarged. At least once per month. Once per week is great. After a couple of years, I was able to stop taking it so much. Before that, if I went longer than about 30 days my anxiety came back fast and hard.
I haven't been taking it much lately because I'm getting back into software after a mini retirement (growing mushrooms full time), and I don't want to lay in bed tripping when I have tons of work to do.
But now I'm going to try to balance software work with fungus work, and get back to taking it every Saturday.
I want to make it a social thing here in Medellín.
I have tried many regular dosing schedules including micro, as often as every day, and up to .3g of very strong mushrooms as my tolerance developed. But I actually started with "museum" doses and found that effective. I had no intention of seeing entities or anything because of "seeing the devil" as a kid and stuff like that.
I won't tell the story of my accidental breakthrough dose on 3g of GT, which changed my mind about breaking through and chilling with the entities.
But now I prefer high doses every Saturday.
Once per week is pushing the limit:
Please don't take psilocybin or any tryptamine more than once per week as it may thicken your heart valves.
To clarify: I went at least one month at 3mg daily. Maybe longer. I had already decided to change before learning about the heart valve research.
As I mentioned in the flagged post: I think that lower doses are uncomfortable for the most part. I played around with everything, for the novelty, including walking around downtown munching them out of the bag like a snack. Taxi! But now I prefer to go "all the way", in bed, with eyes covered.
This is gonna sound like an ad, lol, but it's really just one of the few things that has improved my life for the better. And it's not a tech gadget!
I started eating this powdered food replacement called Huel a few years ago, and recently they released a cup-o-noodles variant that's really easy to make in a microwave. Each cup is 400 calories and packed with proteins and vitamins and such. Each cup is supposed to be a complete, nutritionally sufficient meal. It's basically like backpacking food for the home.
Now my partner and I eat these for about 80% of our meals, and it's largely replaced home cooking for us. As a really busy couple with no kids and minimal cooking skills, it's been a game changer for us. We both feel healthier, more satiated (meaning less hungry through day) and have lost significant weight on it.
It's not gourmet food, obviously, but perfectly serviceable. I actually look forward to it. On a subscription, each cup comes out to be about $4. The bulk bagged versions are cheaper.
I'm really glad I took a chance on it, despite having previously tried and disliked Soylent. Gonna go make one right now!

[ 3.2 ms ] story [ 60.1 ms ] threadWhen I eat crap food, that's when I need a lot of toilet paper.
Somehow other animals don't need toilet paper.
In fairness, other animals very often could use some cleaning in that area.
I like bidets, but I hardly need them. When I build my next house, it will have bidets.

And Google Maps - I suck at directions.
edit: instant, lasting relief from anxiety / stress disorder, depression, addiction...
