What I don't get is: if people provide information on those individuals, such as their locations, appearances, activities, etc...how does that help materially further actions against them? They are probably all in Russia, ex-Soviet states.
Sanctioned and wanted people like to travel too. Prigozhin was flying his private jet all over Africa IIRC.
Until a few years ago there were probably no repercussions at all for destroying democracy by trolling. I agree it's not much, but it's better than nothing.
I just meant that if they were to take a chance and travel, they could get picked up. It's not much of a deterrent against future interference, but at least it's less of a mockery of the laws to defend democracy.
Hmm, I see. But would they pay for stuff like that? Because payment would be confirmation of a 'deniable' operation (assuming in this case), and would break secrecy/plausible deniability.
It seems that payments would have to be just as secret as operations, which would probably be difficult when dealing with random civilians who provide information. This indicates it's unlikely that rewards would be paid in such cases, I think.
No I didn't mean it would block the operations, but that it would block the payouts. Do you have information to suggest otherwise? You haven't linked it, so I assume you're speaking on authority. Heh :) Is it?
Anyway, I mean ... kind of horrible activities, but ... interesting to see these stories if they are indeed linked to solicited information - do you know for a fact they are?
