I don't understand why anyone would think that that area would be a "climate haven" when it's physically in range of hurricanes.

Wouldn't a place like the Midwest, like Wisconsin be much more of a "climate haven"?

I guess what climate disaster could we expect to happen to Wisconsin?

Extreme cold. If you live in a solidly earthquake tolerant building, the west coast has much better overall resilience.

Doesn't the west coast get really hot and dry and can have wildfires?

Big picture answer? Not really. You've heard of Seattle's weather, right?

For the PNW, "really hot" has recently meant more days than usual in the 90s, and a week or two at, like, 100 or 105.
