Yes, apparently the "leak" is a demo of the model rather than the model weights? I would have expected the latter from the headline.

Weights are just numbers and no use to anyone but the model maker. You're probably referring to the trained model, which OpenAI never sells nor shows to anyone. It is not available off-prem but only via an API. So early access to the API is the "leak" here.
