> At the time of writing, with many more votes still to be counted, Harris has just under 68 million votes, more than 13 million below the 81.2 million votes Biden had in 2020. Trump is currently at 72.6 million, less than 2 million away from the 74.2 million votes the Republican received in the 2020 election. Still, even with the remaining votes yet to be counted, Harris is set to fall short of Biden's tally four years ago.
Endlessly courting Republicans who’ll never vote for them, having an empty platform and delivering nothing in four years, and (as the article mentions to its credit) their full-throated support of genocide did it. Why sell yourself out for losers who don’t particularly seem to care about anything you care about and just keep moving further and further to the right? That’s the calculus 10+ million Americans made.
And what’s the takeaway from the big brains in the Dem machine? Americans just love fascism. Americans just hate women. Minorities and poor people are just too dumb to know what’s good for them. The platform of delivering nothing and scolding you lost and is going to continue losing.
Kamala had a very weak campaign: student loans, economy, inflation, rising income inequality, attempting to flank Trump from the right on immigration and pro-police, spent most of the time pandering to right wingers in ways that alienate and spit in the face of her voting base (Liz Cheney? seriously?), doubled-down on pro-genocide of Palestinian talking points directly to a pro-Palestine district.
And let's talk about Ukraine. There's 2 possible solutions to the war in the Ukraine. Full military aid of Ukraine (might start WW3) and full endorsement of Ukraine's peaceful surrender (peace in our time?). But there's also the least-good solution, which is to give Ukraine just enough support to draw out the war long enough to send all their able bodied population into a meat grinder? A sacrifice the Biden administration was happy to make, just to spite Russia. A clear message to the world what kind of friend the US is.
I think the establishment (which Trump is merely the right wing of) intentionally ran a weak candidate to continue the illusion of Democracy to the average person. The average person is probably going to wake up to this unless the US government can find more loopholes like facebook/twitter to put an end to freedom of speech.

P.S. you left-behind-still-deep-asleep will have a brutal awakening happening to you during 2025...
