We moved to downtown Oakland a couple of years ago to live in a brand new building (it's great, definitely a step up from the place that I rented that was built in the 70s). There's this group of young men on loud bikes that cruise around on weekends revving their engines and taking over intersections.

I let my partner know, the first time we heard them, that they definitely aren't compensating for anything. They have nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, they're all well-endowed and that's the reason for the loud bikes. It's so that everyone knows that they're very lucky in that department, certainly nothing else.

We now refer to anyone attention-seeking like that as "cool guys," as our own inside joke.
