I would think this would create an instant recession. But might be great for the U.S. long term.
I hope so.

No doubt would create a temporary recession. However, returning to a small federal government, no matter which side of the aisle you sit on, is a good thing. Power concentration is a bad thing. The USA was never set up to be ran as a supreme leadership, but every year we keep taking power from the states and give it to the federal government, and we have already increased taxes to beyond reasonable levels. The sheer amount of tax revenue wasted and channeled into the pockets of Sallie Mae executives, Boeing executives, etc is unbelievable.

Unfortunately, they've also codified nearly all of this into law. And the voter base has been scared shitless into thinking if the channels are removed, their very well being will be threatened, which is silly.

I think it’s ironic that you mention “power concentration” being a bad thing all whilst talking about how you’re looking forward to a foreign billionaire revamping the us government to their own will… the cognitive dissonance here is comical
Honestly. Enjoy having a billionaire dictate your government staffing, WCGW
Now now, exabrial was simply arguing for small government. And what government could be smaller than the arbitrary whims of a single man!

On a per-capita basis the federal government is the smallest it has ever been since the number of federal employees started being counted.

In October 1954 (the good old days?) there were 2.283 million government employees and 163 million Americans.

In October 2024 (big government tyranny) there are 3.002 million government employees and 335 million Americans.

A major source of government dysfunction and public dissatisfaction is that there are the same number of workers behind the desks-- and double the number of customers.

Double the tax cheats, same number of investigators.

Double the polluters, same number of inspectors.

Double the guests at the national parks, same number of park rangers.

Double the people needing replacement social security card, same number of clerks.

This enables fraud, waste, abuse, and corruption.

Please do it. It will not solve the problem (which is SS/Medicare spending), but will guarantee that they lose the midterms, which will grind the rest of the MAGA agenda to a halt.

We have a bit of a vague idea what might happen, from the recent election of Javier Milei in Argentina
